Take Qlik Sense - Have you had a chance to see the product? The Demo’s? Do you know what strikes me about that? The FIRST decision you have to make as a user is what kind of chart type I want to use? I am not a graphical designer, not a spacial thinker. You ask me ho do I want to see my Data? I don’t have a clue! Tableau knows I don’t have a clue, that’s the beautiful thing about it.

Almost all data visualizations that you will build in
Qlik will involve some level of scripting. In order to
do simple grouping and sets you must write scripts.
Tableau offers a more intuitive and easy to use
functionality to perform the same task using drag
and drop.

“Do you want to leverage your data investment?”

With Tableau’s data flexibility you can choose to
connect live to your existing database thereby
leveraging the databases engine. You can also
create an in memory instance if that is required.
However, in Tableau, it is as simple as checking a
box to choose, no script writing.

“Do you want to enable self-service business

intelligence?”

Answer 4

Tableau was designed to install quickly and easily
and allow business users to answer their own
questions. Qlik require knowledge of scripting,
formulas, and wizards before creating any views.
Typically a Qlik engagement will involve some
consultants or Qlik Developer type users.

Qlik is not cheap

The licensing cost for Qlik is usually
30% higher than Tableau. Also there is usually always
services involved in a deal to build the Qlik dashboards.
Tableau is more of a self-service model that does not
initially need services.

Tableau
has connectivity to numerous SQL and noSQL
databases. Tableau supports over 40 different live data
sources natively in the product.
