What is Qi Deficiency Syndrome and the cause?
Functions of the Zang-Fu organs decline.
Cause: chronic illness, overworking, old age, weak body constitution
Clinical Manifestations of Qi Deficiency Syndrome.
- Shortness of breath
- Fatigue
- Worse during exercise
- Weak voice; dislike speaking
- Dizziness or blurred eyes
- Spontaneous sweating (day sweating)
T: pale tender tongue, white coating
P: weak
What is Qi Sinking and the cause?
Qi without strength, fails to lift organ in place
Cause: further development of qi deficiency, overworking
Clinical Manifestations of Qi Sinking Syndrome.
- Qi Deficiency Symptoms + Prolapsed Organs (ST, anus, BL)
- Feeling of bearing down
- Chronic diarrhea, chronic vaginal discharge
- Mental depression
What is Qi Stagnation and the cause?
Obstruction in certain organs or areas; Qi doesn’t flow smoothly *Related to LR
Cause:
1. Emotional disharmony
2. Appropriate diet
3. Yang Qi Deficiency > cannot push Qi
4. Trauma, injury
Clinical Manifestations of Qi Stagnation Syndrome.
- Distention from epigastrium, chest, abdomen
- Pain that moves
- Alleviated by belching
- Sighing = good mood / Worry = worse
T: normal or pale tender tongue
P: wiry
What is Qi Reversion Syndrome and the cause?
Disorder of qi to ascend and descend. Liver-Stomach-Lung Qi reverse up.
Cause:
1. External pathogenic factors
2. Emotional disharmony, LR impairment by anger
3. Cold fluids/food retention, phlegm
Clinical Manifestations of Qi Reversion Syndrome:
Lung Qi Reversion:
- cough, breathlessness, wheezing, asthma
Stomach Qi Reversion:
- nausea, vomiting, hiccup, belching
Liver Qi Reversion:
- dizziness, headache, coma, hematemesis
