A
Powerful superficial muscle on the posterior aspect of the hip giving the shape of the buttock.

Posterior aspect of the ilium, sacrum and coccyx (plus sacrotuberous ligament).
Blends into the iliotibial tract to attach into the lateral tibial condyle (Gerdy’s tubercle). Gluteal tuberosity of the femur
