State the type of joint
Multi axial synovial ball and socket joint
Briefly describe the articular surface of the head of humerus
The head of the humerus is 2/5 of a sphere, faces superiorly medially and posteriorly, covered with hyaline cartilage which is thicker centrally and thinner at the periphery.
State the attachment of the capsule
Medially: attached to the circumference of the glenoid fossa, beyond the labrum and including the supra-glenoid tubercle. Laterally: attached to the anatomical neck of the humerus, inferiorly to the shaft of humerus
Name the muscles that produce flexion of the choulder joint
Anterior fibres of deltoid, clavicular head of Pectoralis Major Coracobrachialis, Biceps Brachii (long head)
Name 2 muscles that produce Abduction of the shoulder joint
Supraspinatus (initiates first 20degs) middle fibres of deltoid
