Explain what PPP is?
Positive pressure pressurization. Uses fans to over pressurize an enclosed compartment preventing smoke, etc from entering.
Explain what PPV is?
Positive pressure ventilation. Makes an area safer for overhaul, clears toxic gases from structure.
Explain what PPA is?
Positive pressure attack. Uses fans alongside interior crews to force smoke heat and gasses out an exhaust opening as close to fire as possible. Used to reduce risk of backdraft, flashover, more tenable environment for victims and helps FF extinguishing fire.
What fan position will have the highest air entrainment?
V point. 10% more air than other methods
How big should the exhaust openings be when performing PPA
IFSTA ANSWER: Greater than 1:1, size of exhaust opening must exceed the intake to the fire compartment. (We want the fire room pressure to remain LOW so the flow path will move towards the exhaust. Creating a larger exhaust will do this)
Interior crews should wait how long before allowing flow path to become established ?
30-60 seconds

How would you know where the fire origin point on a property is?
Most obvious sign of origin is the location where the MOST DAMAGE IS
When conducting wind assisted ventilation, there is the upwind (inlet) and a downwind (outlet) side.
Which side should you open first ?
Windows and doors on the downwind (outlet side) should be opened first to create an exhaust point. Openings on the inlet side can then be opened to permit fresh air to enter forcing smoke towards the exhaust opening.
