Q

WHAT ARE THE QUALITIES OF A GOOD RESEARCH TITLE?

A
  • 25 words at most
  • you have to be able to see the content and purpose
  • you have to be able to see the research design (e.g quantitative or qualitative)

Q

What is a Research Design?

A
  • Aresearch design is a strategy for answering yourresearch question.
  • It defines your overall approach and determines how you will collect and analyze data.
  • Blueprint of Scientific Study

Q

What is Phenomenology

A

Study of experiences of people or the phenomenon happening around them naturally or in a natural setting. For example, festivals or fiesta which naturally happen in a community

14
Q

What is Case Study?

A

Somehow it’s under Phenomenology but is more specific on a subject and it is unique or not considered normal in a certain situation.
- in depth study on why they behave like that

e.g, a mother with 7 children and the father of those 7 children were all different

Q

What is Content and Discourse Qualitative Research

A

Also known as Communication Study

  • study on the way a person talks,

the literal meaning or what he said exactly is the CONTENT while the meaning behind the those words is DISCOURSE

17
Q

What is Narrative?

A

Your own experience

  • it was unusual in a natural setting
  • it happened recently
  • quali…like MPK
18
Q

Kinds of Quantitative Research

A

Descriptive
Correlational
Experimental
Quasi-Experimental

19
Q

What is Descriptive Research

A
  • variables are measured through numbers and aims to describe things through numbers
  • those data should be absolute/cannot be changed
20
Q

What is Correlational Research?

A

Investigates relationships between 2 variables without the research manipulation or controlling any of them
- data is also absolute (its similarity with descriptive research

21
Q

What is Quasi-Experimental?

A
  • “false” or “sort of” an experiment
  • you do not intend to experiment on them
  • result by chance
  • subjects are only identified after the experiment
  • you do not know your subject prior to the experiment
22
Q

What is Experimental Research?

A
  • you can manipulate variable while keeping otehr variables in control
  • Independent Variable: we can change
  • randomly assigns subjects
  • you know the subjects prior to the experiment
23
Q

ELEMENTS OF RESEARCH DESIGN

A

Internal Validity [Credibility]
External Validity [Transferability]
Reliability [Dependability]
Objectivity [Confirmability]
