Avoid digits
Start peripherally and move proximally

A

Document it in the notes
Include date and time, guage, batch number, indication, skin prep used and site of cannula
Sign and date this

If attaching a fluid bag remember to sign, date and time the flag on the giving set.

A

Keep this site clean and avoid touching it without washing your hands
If you experience and pain, redness, itching or swelling around the cannula alert the nursing staff
