A
Impure substances have a lower melting and boiling point than would be expected and sometimes melt over a a range of temperature

Why do you think the impure substance melts over a range of temperature?
A
Becuase impure substances contain more than one type of element or compound this then means that the substances will have different melting and boiling points so some might melt faster than others creating a range of temperature
