What is the ideal pupil identity?
White,middle class, masculinised identity who achieves through natural ability and initiative
What is the pathologised pupil identity?
Asian, feminised identitiy, asexual or repressed sexuality. Overachieves through hard work rather than natural ability
What is the demonised pupil identity?
Black/white, WC, hypersexual, peer led, unintelligent, culturally deprived, underachiever
What identities are ethnic minorities most likely to be stereotyped as?
Pathologised or demonised
What are black students more likely to be seen as?
Loud, overly sexual with uninspirational home lives
What are asian girls more likely to be stereotyped as?
Quite, passive and docile
