Pulp Morphology Flashcards
Where is the pulp chamber located?
Coronal part of the tooth
What are pulp horns?
Projections in the roof of the pulp chamber
- conforms with the shape of the cusp
What happens to the pulp chamber as we age?
Reduces in size due to the formation of secondary denting (physiological/pathological origin)
What is a delta?
The root canal may end in a delta of small canals, not just a single apical foramen
What is anastomosis?
Two canals exists within same lateral
How many canals does an upper first molar typically have?
Three
- may have a fourth
How many canals does an upper second molar typically have?
Three
Which root in lower molars is more likely to have two canals?
Mesial root
Which tooth has the mesial marginal ridge lower than the distal marginal ridge?
Lower 4
How can you differentiate upper 4 and 5?
Lingual cusp of 4 is more mesially displaced
Which tooth features a tubercle of carabelli often?
Upper 1st permanent molar
