What are the Physical exam findings for Asthma/COPD?
I: pursed lip breathing and barrel chest
P: decreased fremitus bilaterally (less vibration)
P: Hyperresonance bilaterally (too much air)
A: wheezing or rhonchi bilaterally
What are the physical exam findings for Pneumothorax?
I: Hyperinflation of ipsilateral hemithorax
P: subcutaneous crepitus
Ipsilateral side - decreased movement on breath in, decreased fremitus,
Contralateral side - tracheal shift
P: hyperresonance of ipsilateral side
A: decreases BD over ipsilateral side
What are the physical exam findings for Pleural Effusion?
P: Ipsilateral - decreased movement on inspiration, decreased or absent fremitus,
contralateral tracheal shift
P: Dull of FLAT! over ipsilateral hemithorax
A: decreased BC over ipsilateral; occasional friction rub
What are the physical exam findings for lung consolidation?
P: Increased fremitus over consolidated area
P: DULL over area
A: over area hear bronchial breath sounds, egophony and whispered pectoriloquot
What are PE findings for Bronchial obstruction with atelectasis?
P: Ipsilateral - decreased movement with inspiration, SAME SIDE tracheal shift and decreased fremitus
P: DULL over ipsilateral hemothorax
A: decreased breath sounds over ipsilateral hemithorax
Physical exam findings of clubbing?
Crackles
What 2 diagnoses use imaging to be made? (all the rest of imaging suggestive of disease process but not diagnostic)
