Pulmonary Anthracosis Flashcards
Pneumoconiosis
Lung disease caused by the inhalation and retention of anorganic dust: anthracosis, asbestosis and silicosis
Anthracosis
Common incidental finding in city-dwelling animals, or those cohabiting with cigarrete smokers, in which carbon particles accumulate within macrophages
Etiopathogenesis
Inhalation of carbon particles-lungs- elimination/phagocytosis by macroph-interstitium-regional limph nodes-pulmonary fibrosis
Macro
Subpleural black spots
When fibrosis occurs, lung dont collapse, increase in size, grayish color, dense-elastic consistency
Micro
Black small particles conglomerates
Macrophages with carbon particles alveolar septa is thick
Enfisema
Evolution
Usually without pathologic significance
Pulmonary fibrosis
