Pulmonary Flashcards
What is Organic dust toxicity syndrome
From exposure to moldy decomposed hay and manure. Aerosol endotoxins are inhaled.
What is hypersensitivity pneumonitis. What can u see in the X-ray compared to organic dust toxicity syndrome
Specific to an individual. Can see micronodular or reticular opacity vs normal with ODTS.
What two work exposure can cause fever
- organic dust toxicity and metal fume fever caused by zinc which occurs only during workdays
What defines an exudate with pleural fluid
Pleural fluid/ serum protein ratio of >0.5
LDH ratio >0.6
Pleural fluid Ldh > 150
What are the causes of exudative pleural effusion
Carcinoma Mesothelioma PNA TB pancreatitis Esophageal rupture Collagen vascular disease ( RA, shorten syndrome) drugs,
Causes of Transudative effusion
Cirrhosis Nephritic syndrome Atelectasis Myxedema Urinothorax
What is Curb 65
To see if pt needs to be admitted for PNA C- confusion urea- BUN> 20 Resp rate>30 breath/ min Blood pressure < 90/60 Age> 65 yrs old Score 0-1 not need be admitted
What do you see in an X-ray w/ hypersensitivity pnuemonitis
