pulm Flashcards
obstructive lung disease
decreased FEV1/FVC ratio
vs normal in restrictive
Asthma, Bronchiectasis, COPD/Cystic Fibrosis, Obstruction
asthma- reversible bronchial hyperactivity, airway inflammation, mucus plugging, smooth muscle hypertrophy, prolonged expiration, ASA exacerbated resp disease- asthma, chronic rhinosinusitis w/ nasal polyps- not ige med pseudoallergic reaction. reversible with SABA. methacholine challenge- hyperresponsibe ness, >20% decrease in FEV1
Astma exacerbations- albuterol, steroids, theophylline, humidified O2, Magnesium, anticholinergics
bronchiectasis
recurrent cycles of infection and inflammation of the bronchi and bronchioles–> fibrosis, remodeling, and permanent dialtion of bronchi
chronic cough, colored green sputum, dyspnea, possible hemoptysis and halitosis
CF, pulm infections, HS, airway obstruction, aspiration,
antibiotics, dec bacterial load and airway systematic inflamatory mediators
