1942 Beveridge report
1. trying to tackle the 5 giants - want, disease, ignorange, squalor, idleness. poverty in 1930s. Encourahed introduction of NHS. Sold 600,000 copies and was spoken about in media. Pressured government to do something. high infant morality, 3 mil unemployed in 1930s and 4mil insurance policies unpaid. Put public pressure on the government and let to election of Attleee’s labour party in 1945 with 393 seats against conservative 197
