Oestrogen
Any of a group of steroid hormones which promote the development and maintenance of female characteristics of the body. Such hormones are also produced artificially for use in oral contraceptives or to treat menopausal and menstrual disorders.
E.g. These hormones help with the menstral cycle.
Testosterone
A steroid hormone that stimulates development of male secondary sexual characteristics, produced mainly in the testes, but also in the ovaries and adrenal cortex.
E.g. Changes in general such as hair throughout the body.
Testes
The male testes create the sex drive of males these also help with the reproduction system without testes you may not reproduce.
E.g. Male genetalia
Menstruation
The process in a woman of discharging blood and other material from the lining of the uterus at intervals of about one lunar month from puberty until the menopause, except during pregnancy. Menstruation will have an effect on your hormones and will ultimately create unpredictable mood swings.
E.g. Five day period of when the vagina bleeds and sheds eggs
Eggs
The egg cell, or ovum, is the female reproductive cell. The egg cell is typically not capable of active movement, and it is much larger (visible to the naked eye) than the motile sperm cells. When the sperm cells and eggs mix a chemical reaction occurs and an organism will soon be created (your having a baby).
E.g. The egg cell pairs with sperm cells to create an organism.
Hormone
A chemical substance produced in the body that controls and regulates the activity of certain cells or organs.
E.g. Adrenaline is a hormone
Puberty
Adolescence, the period in which the human body first becomes capable of reproduction. During puberty mood swings will occur these are often unpredictable and will often occur because of all the hormones that are circulating around your body through your blood stream.
E.g. When you first are capable of reproducing with another human being.
Mental health
A persons condition with regard to their psychological and emotional well-being. Puberty is the time where these patterns start to be disturbed and you may obtain a mental illness. You also may have mental health issues because of all the changes that are taking place in your body because of hormones that are an effect of puberty.
E.g. You may find in these stages of puberty to develop a mental illness such as depression or anxiety.
Pimples
Excess sebum, or oil gland, production. Skin cells that shed become abnormally sticky and accumulate, or clog up, in the hair follicle. Increased number of the acne-causing bacterium Propionbacterium acne. These are hormones and sweat glands that have an effect on your body.
E.g. All of these forces will lead to pimples and acne.
Hair Growth
Hair growth all over the body is a straight effect of androgens, women have a higher value of this hormone which means their hair grows faster. This is also the case with men but our hair doesn’t grow as fast. The hormone androgens is which helps your hair grow.
E.g. Having a higher amount of androgens means your hair will grow faster.
