aerobic, slow twitch, slow oxidative (SO), dark in color
Type A 2
aerobic & anaerobic, fast twitch, (FOG) fast oxidative glycolitic fibers
Hypertrophy
Increase muscle size

RICES
Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevate, Stabilize
Angina or MI
chest pain, pressure in chest, radiating left jaw, shortness of breath & light headedness, sub-scapular pain( upper back discomfort)
Heat exhaustion
cool, moist, pale, ashen or flushed skin, headache, dizziness, nausea, weakness, exhaustion, heavy sweating, normal body temp.
Heat stroke
Red, hot, dry skin, vomiting, shallow breathing, high body temp
Caffeine
may extend endurance in moderate aerobic exercise
Alcohol
dehydrates, increase risk of heart injury
Nicotine
may elevate HR, BP and respiratory response to exercise and increase potential for heart arrhythmias
