PT Flashcards
What is a “sub base”?
system lines can come into and DCV can be replaced or removed without plumbing being disconnected
What are the 3 types of 3-position valves?
Exhaust Center
Blocked Center
Pressure Center
What is a “Detent”?
Holding device to help keep moveable member in the desired shifted position.
What is “Spring Returned”?
2 position directional valve where spring returns spool to original position.
5 Ported
- Pressure
- Exhaust A
- Exhaust B
- Line A
- Line B
Most amount of “ways” in a valve
4 ways. Powered motion in both directions
3 way
Pressurize and exhaust one port
Minimum amount of postitions and ways.
2 position
2 way
What is a “flow control valve”?
Adjustable orfice, most common in needle valve
What does a “pressure regulator” do?
Limits down-stream pressure
What is a “safety release valve”?
Backs up pressure switch, limits compressor pressure
What is a “pressure switch”?
turns off and on based on pressure
Where can pressure be controlled?
At compressor and after receiver tank
What does a valve consist of?
body, moving part, connects and disconnects passages
What are 3 things a valve does?
- Control system pressure
- Direction of flow
- Rate of flow
What is “flow rate” measured by?
CFM
What is transmission of energy?
When potential energy is converted to Kinetic energy
What happens when air is compressed?
Temp and pressure increase.
