Catatonic stupor (Catatonia)
A condition in which patients seem completely lifeless and may exhibit such signs as muteness, negativism, and automatic obedience.
- ex: sit immobile / speechless in chair, repsond short answers and move only directed
- Odd=clumsiness/ stiffness in body
Waxy flexibility
Hold a position but movable to a new posture as if made of wax
Schizophrenia DSM-5 Criteria
-Evidence of a psychotic disorder.
- 2 or more during 1 month period at least one
Delusions, hallunicartiosn, disorderhganized speech, gorrlsy disorgrnaiozed or catinitnc behvihior
Catalepsy
Holding a posture for an extended period
Paranoid schizophrenia
Primarily defined by delusions. Less or no disturbance of affect or volition
Hebephrenic schizophrenia
Negative affect with inappropriate mood, social isolation and unpredictable behavior
Catatonic schizophrenia
psychomotor changes, such as posturing, odd mannerisms/affect, stupor vs. agitation
