Interpersonal psychotherapy

A
  • One-on-one therapy used to treat depression or dysthymia (more persistent but less severe form of depression).
  • Good for people who have disrupted relationships and role transitions (how relationships are effected when our roles in life change).

  • Developed to work for people w/ suicidal ideation. Now used in people w/ borderline personality disorder. Class-based and individual therapy. Requires lots of time.
  • Therapist validates the px’s feelings / emotions.
