- Use – May be useful for PTSD and terminal cancer. Causes feelings of closeness, increased communication, love, mental / physical wellbeing, reduction in fear associated w/ trauma.
- Mechanism – 5HT, DA and NE releaser and uptake transporter
- Adverse rxns
- High dose can produce 5-HT syndrome, hyperthermia
- CV: ↑ HR, ↑ BP
- CNS: dizziness (40%), restlessness (39%), anorexia (70%), insomnia (17%), tremor (14%), bruxism (63%), nystagmus (23%)
- Precautions – Mental illness: psychosis, mania, paranoia

- Use – FDA approved for antiemetic and appetite stimulating effects. Others include analgesic (especially neuropathic pain), antispastic, and antiglaucoma effects.
- Mechanism – acts on CB1 (central) and CB2 (peripheral) receptors. Lower IOP by 25% in pxs w/ glaucoma.
- Adverse rxns – decreased BP, increased HR
