How is behaviour considered abnormal using statstical infrequency.

A

statistically rare characteristics and behaviours not exhibited by many people. the more the figure deviates from average, the more rare and stastically infrequent.

What is an example of a stastically infrequent behaviour?

A

measuring intelligence. majority of the populations IQ would be clustered around average, 85 - 100. normal distribution.
those who score below 70% are unusual or abnormal. - able to be diagnosed with IDD ( intellectual disability disorder )

How is a behaviour considered deviation from social norms?

A

when a person’s behaviour does not fit the rules of expected behaviour. Norms regulate the expectations of how people behave. - varies between cultures and generations ( dynamic )

A

Antisocial personality disorder - according to DSM - 5 one key symptom is absence of prosocial internal behaviour. - psychotic behaviour would be considered abnormal in many cultures

A
