-Founded psychoanalysis
Key concepts (freud)
-Psychoanalysis: try to understand the mysteries of a patient’s unconscious mind in order to make sense of behaviours and relationships
Unconscious Mind: Part of the mind that holds thoughts, memories, and desires not within conscious awareness but still influencing behavior.
Key concepts (freud 2)
-Id: Instinctual drives and desires.
Ego: Rational part that mediates between the id and reality.
Superego: Moral standards and ideals.
-Defense Mechanisms: denial, repression, progression,
-Oedipus Complex: A child’s unconscious desire for the opposite-sex parent and jealousy toward the same-sex parent.
Erikson
a psychologist who focused on how people develop throughout their lives. He came up with the idea of eight stages of development, from infancy to old age.
