Psychodynamic Perspective
(Freud) all behavior and thoughts stem from early experiences
Behavioral Perspective
The way we behave and learn can be explained through our interactions with our environment
Humanistic Perspective
(Maslow) to understand people, ourselves, and others. Must look at the whole picture of a human in order to understand them. focuses on human nature and not traits.
Cognitive Perspective
How do people explain their own behavior and how they see the world
Biological Perspective
explains everything in a biological approach - its all genetic. this approach looks for reasons why we are the way we are based on our genes
Evolutionary Perspective
(Darwin) Evolutionary progression
Socio-Cultural Perspective
What does society do

Superego
our values and moral attitudes learned from society
Ego
reality based concept of the self that finds happy medium b/w the ID and the Super ego. Chooses actions that will satisfy the ID without undesirable consequences
