A

In one species of monkey if they wanted to mate with a female that already had young they would kill the young. Because they have no gene investment in the young.

A

Animals abuse their young where there are disturbances in early mother-infant attachment. Have in a very general way applied this to issue of step parenting and sub partenting.

A

Simple view that behaviour is shaped by the interaction of an individual with the environment

What does learning theory beleive is the cause of child abuse?

A

Largely the result of having learnt dysfunctional child care practises of alternatively of not having learned functioning child care practices. Adults who have experienced punitive treatment may well rely on such methods to discipline their own children.

Described a set of behavioural explanations as to why children are physically abused; parents may lack affective child management techniques, the abuse may result from explosive acts triggered by the child.
