What is social anxiety disorder?
A
A person feels anxiety or fear in certain or all social situations, such as meeting new people, dating, job interviews, answering a question in class, having to talk to a cashier in a store. Doing every day things in front of people, like eating or drinking, also causes fear. The person is afraid they will be humiliated or rejected.

What are some of the characteristics/symptoms of social anxiety disorder?
A
People with social anxiety disorder tend to:
- Blush, sweat, tremble, feel a rapid heart rate, or feel their mind going blank
- Feel nauseous
- Show a rigid body posture, make little eye contact, or speak with a very soft voice
- Find it scary or difficult to be with other people, especially those they don’t already know
- Be very self-conscious in front of other people and feel embarrassed and awkward
- Be very afraid that other people will judge them
- Stay away from places where there are other people

Define emotional disabilities
A
One or more of the following conditions:
- An inability to learn that cannot be explained by intellectual, sensory, or health factors
- An inability to build or maintain satisfactory interpersonal relationships with peers or teachers
- Inappropriate types of behavior or feelings under normal circumstances
- A tendency to develop physical symptoms or fears associated with personal or school problems
