The fear emotion can motivate individuals to protect themself from physiological or psychological harm and that can be in the form of either freezing or fleeing.
It can also help in finding new ways to cope in the danger in order to remove the danger. Such as learning to pay attention on the road when its raining because it is slippery.
Fear vs. Anxiety

Fear can motivate a specific style of coping, while anxiety is a state of undirected arousal and tension and keeps one alert instead of away from the threat.
