Classifies psychological disorders. Specific criteria has to be met to be diagnosed with a disorder
Major Depressive Disorders
Lasts for over 2 or more weeks with five or more symptoms, at least 1 must be a depressed mood or lost of interest or pleasure
Bipolar Disorders
In which a person alternates between hopelessness and depression to an overexcited state of mania
Mania
Hyperactive, wildly optimistic state in which dangerously poor judgement is common
Schizophrenia
Disorder characterized by delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech or inappropriate emotional expression
Anxiety Disorders
Characterized by distressing, persistent anxiety
Phobias
Overwhelming and fear of object, place, situation, feeling, animal, etc.
Stress Disorders
Characterized by memories, trauma-related stimulus
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
unwanted repetitive thoughts (obsessions), actions or both
Personality Disorders
Inflexible and enduring behavior patterns that impair social functioning
