In social settings because of their charisma, manipulativeness, false security and deceptive abilities

1) Selfishness, callousness and interpersonal manipulation

what are some characteristics of those with an Anti-social personality disorder?
Show a lack of anxiety or guilt, tend to be impulsive and unable to delay gratification of needs
List the requirements it takes for someone to be diagnosed with Anti-Social personality disorder.
- must be 18 years of age at least, or older
- must have had evidence of anti social behaviour before the age of 15 (cruelty towards animals, bullying other kids, lying, cheating, sexual aggression)
How does someone with anti social personality disorder respond to stressful situations?
- heart rate is low (not panicked)
- no fight or flight response like the normal person
Where are the low levels of activity in the brain in someone who has anti social personality disorder?
In the amygdala and prefrontal cortex ( that’s where behavioural self control is managed)
what does anorexia nervosa cause?
stops menustration, strains the heart, increases risk of death
what are the 5 areas schizophrenia effects?
attention, thought, language, emotion and behaviour
What is border line personality disorder? (BPD)
a collection of symptoms characterized primarily by serious instability in behaviour, emotion, identity and interpersonal relationships. Often expressing extreme love of hate towards the same person, high frequency of manipulative and suicidal behaviour.
what’s a dissociative fugue?
a dissociative phenomenon in which a person loses all sense of identity and wanders to another place and establishes a new identity. (not on purpose)
what are dissociative disorders?
Disorders that involve a major dissociation of personal identity of memory.
What is dissociative amnesia?
a disorder in which a person responds to a stressful event with extensive but selective memory loss.
What is the social causation hypothesis of schizophrenia?
Higher prevalence of schizophrenia is due to higher levels of stress that low income people experience.
What are negative symptoms of schizophrenia?
The absence of normal reactions such as lack of emotional expression, loss of motivation and absence of normal speech
