What is refeeding symdrome?

A

During a period of starvation there is reduced intracellular phosphate, extracellular phosphate may be normal

Upon eating carbohydrate - rapid ris in insulin, rapid generation of ATP, phosphate moves into the cells - hypophosphataemia rapidly develops
