  • Grunbaum (1993) - therapy provides a placebo effect. It is being treated that helps, not the treatment itself.
  • Freud’s case studies e.g “rat man” and “Anna O” demonstrate the effects of the unconscious on conscious behaviour and the success of psychodynamic therapy as a treatment
