Bring repressed feelings into conscious awareness where the patient can deal with them (self-insight)

Resistance
Blocking from consciousness any anxiety-arousing material (hesitation, lying, or stuttering)
Interpretation
The analyst’s noting supposed dream meanings, resistances, and other significant behaviors
Transference
Positive or negative feelings are transferred onto the therapist
Psychodynamic Therapy
Views individuals as responding to unconscious forces and childhood experiences which seeks to enhance self-insight
