monocular depth cues definitions
- interposition: the object that is closer obsecures part of another, more distant object
- texture gradient: the amount of detail in a scene decreases as the distance increases or mived away from the viewer
divided attention
splitting attention across two or more stimuli at one time - automatic and low contious awareness
selective attention
exclusively focusing attention on a specific stimulus or task while ignoring all other stimuli or tasks - controlled and high contious awareness

gestalt principals defintions
- closure: to fill in the gaps of an image to create a whole
- similarity: the tendency to percieve parts of visual stimuli with similar features such as shape and size as belonging together as a unit
