What is a delusion?
Unshakable beliefs, irrespective of counter arguments, that are out of keeping with the patients cultural background
What are ideas of reference?
Coincidental events which are interpreted to have great personal significance
What is flight of ideas?
Quickening of thoughts so most are not carried to completion before being overtaken
Meaningful connections between ideas are kept
What is thought derailment?
Break in the linked association of sequential thoughts
What is tangential thinking?
Talking past or around the point as thoughts diverge from the topic
What is word salad?
Speech reduced to senseless repetition of sounds and phrases
What is thought insertion?
“Putting ideas into my head”
What is thought broadcasting?
“People overhead my thoughts”
What is thought withdrawal?
“Thoughts are being take our of my head”
