What are positive vs negative symptoms of schizophrenia

Positive symptoms are those symptoms of excess including hallucinations (in which auditory hallucinations are most common), delusional thoughts, disorganized speech, and paranoia. However, negative symptoms are those that lessen a patient’s normal function, such as a dysthymic mood or anhedonia (the loss of interest in what was once pleasurable).
