Q

what is the information proccessing model?

A

The memory model that explains that information is taken in by senses an d stored in the sensory memory. The memory is then encoded ito tthe working memory which temporarily holds the info and allows you to “think” about it. From there the memory is sent to the long term memory for relatively permanent storage

Q

What is the spacing effect?

A

facilitated encoding of materials through rehearsal situations spread out over time. ie learning info and then reviewing before exams. more effective than massed practice

Q

What is massed practice?

A

Cramming. learning and practicing all the information at once. ie staying up to study all the course materials instead of learing it through out the year right before an exam. Less effectivw than the spacing effect

17
Q

What is Episodic Memory?

A

Memories of personal experiences

18
Q

What is procedural memory?

A

Motor skills and habits. Muscle memory type things. like brushing your teeth

19
Q

What is classically conditioned memory?

A

conditioned responses to conditioned stimuli. eg phobias, Pavlovs dog, certain attitudes etc.

20
Q

What is priming?

A

Earlier exposure to a certain emotion or stimulus facilitates retrieval. Ie being angry at SO brings up other bad memories
