What are physiological assumptions and how do they fit in to all this?
They influence the way we perceive the world. (i.e.) heredity vs environmental, optimistic vs pessimistic.
Important as when made explicit, they reveal the assumptions that researchers are making about their research?
Must evaluate physiological assumptions- it is coherent, relevant, comprehensive and compelling?
What’s a link between personality and culture?
Individualistic cultures = emphasis on individual needs.
Collectivist cultures= vise versa
What’s a conclusion from the person-situation debate?
sitch variables are best suited to predict behaviour in specific situations, while personality traits are more able to predict patterns of behaviour that persist across situations and time.
Whats the Barnum effect?
people tend to accept vague and general personality descriptions as uniquely applicable to themselves
What is psychometrics?
methods of psychological measures (i.e.) intelligence testing and personality testing
