What is the difference between primary sclerosing cholangitis and primary billiary cholangitis ?
PSC affects both intra and extrahepatic ducts, PBC affects only the intrahepatic ducts.
PSC is more common in patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease, PBC is associated with sjogren’s syndrome
PBC will test positive for anti-mitochondrial antibody
PSC will show beaded appearance on mrcp and ercp
What is the cutaneous features of PBC ?
Xanthelasma.
Build up of fat around the eyes or any other part of the skin.
What is the most common symptoms of PBC ?
Fatigueability
Pruritus (can beh diffuse or localised)
How is the diagnosis of PBc made ?
Anti-mitochondrial antibody present in 95% of the case
Raised ALP
Liver biopsy
