- Russia would not make a separate peace agreement with Germany it would try to create a general peace with all nations
- Russia would not seek to make territorial gains at the expense of other countries
- until a peace settlement was reached Russia would counite to defend its territory

created by provisional government to test PS commitment to its aims
it stated russia commitment to war whilst insisting it would not forcibly seize land belonging to other countries.
Milykouv crisis
in the declaration of war milykov added a private telegram which stated Russia would fight until a conclusive victory had been won
the telegram was leaked
resulted in an uproar
consequences of milkyov crisis
-demonstrated the extent of soviet power and the weakness of provisional government
- brought dual power to an end
- consigned Russia’s liberals to the dustbin of history
- ended the buoyant optimistic mood which had been evident in Petrograd weeks after the feb rev
why did Germany help Lenin go back to Russia
because they believed Lenin will help Russia undermine their efforts in the war.

June Offensive events:
- June 18 1917 Russian armies attack their German and Austria counterparts
- Kerensky had visions of leading Russia into victory and covering himself with glory
- Russia’s army chiefs saw a successful offensive as a way to bring back the army morale and discipline
- June offensive failed with Germany being able to go 150 miles deep into Russian territory
Consequence of June offensive
undermined the creditability of the provisional government and increased attraction for the Bolshevik alternative
