What products are used for waxing?
Foot sanitiser, alcohol wipe, skin cleanser, talcum powder, pre-wax oil, post wax cleanser, soothing cream and wax solvent.
What equipments are used for waxing?
Headband, linen, tweezers, glass bowls, hand mirror, magnifying lamp and waste bin.
What disposables are used for waxing?
Paper towels, gloves, apron, large and small wooden spatulas, bonded or cloth strips, cotton pads, tissues and cotton buds.
How do we maintain the wax temperature?
- Constantly checking the temperature on your wrist before applying onto the client’s skin
- Check the consistency of your wax
- Check the thermostat
What strip should be used at a ________ temperature.
Lower.
Approx 43 degrees.
To prevent wax from dripping, where should we wipe our spatula after dipping?
Wipe on one side of the spatula, tip of the other side and sides.
Where do you support the skin to be waxed?
Above the area to be waxed.
At what angle do you hold the spatula for application?
45 degree angle
Why must we leave a 2cm margin at the top of the strip wax?
To give us space to hold the wax strip to pull off.
Which direction must we rub the strip wax on the skin?
In the direction of hair growth.
Why must we support the skin when waxing?
To avoid bruising and discomfort.
In which direction do we pull off the strip wax?
Against the direction of hair growth. Parallel to the skin/close of the body, never up.
Why do we apply pressure or rub the area, after we pull off the wax?
To oo the any stinging sensation.
How many times can we wax the same area?
No more than twice.
How can we check for any hairs we may have missed?
Run our hands over the waxed area, use magnifying lamp or ask the client to inspect.
Do we wax the front or back of legs first?
Front
When should we wax feet and toes?
Until after the back of legs have been completed.
In what pattern do we wax a half leg?
Middle - Section 1, 2 & 3 ankle up to the knee
Inner side - section 3 & 4 ankle up to knee
Outer side - section 5 & 6 ankle up to knee
Under knee - section 1, 2 & 3 from inner side, outer side and middle
Over knee - one section on knee cap
Where would you test the wax temperature on your client?
The inside of the ankle.
Where would you test the wax temperature on yourself?
On your wrist.
What do we use to remove wax and residue stickiness from the skin?
Wax cleanser.
In what pattern do we wax the knee?
Chart pattern 1,2 & 3.
1 - Inner side (right)
2 - Outer side (left)
3 - Middle
In what pattern do we wax the right/upper leg?
Same pattern as half leg wax. Chart pattern 1-6.
1,2,3 - Middle location, upwards from the bottom
3 & 4 - Inner thigh, upwards from the bottom
5 & 6 - Outer thigh, upwards from the bottom
What is the popliteal space?
The diamond-shaped space at the back of the knee joint.
When it comes to waxing the popliteal space, why must it be done with great care?
Due to the proximity of the lymph nodes and blood vessels.
