Prototypes Flashcards
1
Q
What are prototypes?
A
Full scale models that are virtually indistinguishable from the design outcome.
Fully working models, which are as close to the final product as possible.
One off products made by hand to evaluate performance, function , form and use of the product before the final manufacture of the product.
2
Q
Name four advantages of prototypes?
A
To see if parts fit To asses the ergonomics To test the function To asses and evaluate the aesthetics To check reliability To show the client for feed back
3
Q
What is rapid prototyping?
A
Rapid prototyping is a way in which a working model of a product (or part of a product) can be manufactured using a CNC machine
4
Q
What material is used for rapid prototyping?
A
card
foam
paper
clay
