Q

what’s the secondary structure of a protein

A

-polypeptide must be formed in its regular structure
-secondary structure is held into position by hydrogen bonds which form between the amine group of 1 amino acid and the carboxylic acid group of another amino acid further down the chain

Q

what is the tertiary structure of a protein

A

-poly peptide may be folded into an irregular fashion
-gives the protein a 3 dimensional shape which is held into position by bonds that form between specific r groups of amino acids
-these bonds could be hydrogen bonds, ionic bonds ore disulfide bridges (if the r group contains sulfur)
