Translation

A

final step on the way from DNA to protein. It is the synthesis of proteins directed by a mRNA template. The information contained in the nucleotide sequence of the mRNA is read as three letter words (triplets), called codons. Each word stands for one amino acid.

Q

Process of protein synthesis

A
  1. DNA is transcribed into mRNA.
  2. mRNA goes out of the nucleus and goes to the ribosome.
  3. mRNA in the ribosome attracts the tRNA (which itself attracts amino acids).
  4. The combination of both mRNA and tRNA causes the codon in the mRNA to meet its anticodon in the tRNA. This is successively done, leading to the lengthening of the Amino Acid chain.
