Q
What is secreted constitutive?
A
Albumin and collagen
1
Q
What is constitutive secretion?
A
Continuous process where proteins are packaged into vesicles and released constantly via exocytosis
2
Q
What is regulated secretion?
A
Proteins package into vesicles only released when required, a signal binds
3
Q
What is secreted regulated?
A
Insulin

Q
What is the process of secretory protein synthesis?
A
- Free ribosomes imitate protein synthesis from mRNA
- A hydrophobic n terminal signal sequence is created
- Signal sequence of new protein recognised and binds by SIGNAL RECOGNITION PARTICLE (SRP)
- Protein synthesis stops
- GTP- bound SRP directs ribosomes to SRP receptors on cytosolic face of rER
- SRP dissociates
- Protein synthesis continues, new polypeptide fed into rER via pores in membrane - this is PEPTIDE TRANSLOCATION COMPLEX
- Signal sequence removed by signal peptidase once protein synthesised
- Ribosome dissociates and recycled
