Q

Where did the term 1% originate and what does it mean?

A

The term originated from a 1947 article by the AMA after an incident in Hollister, California after July 4th weekend. The article was about the drunken lawlessness of a few of the bikers the AMA stated in the article that, “99% of our members are law abiding citizens and only 1% are outlaws”. The terms 1% and outlaw were embraced by these individuals who struck out on their own and formed outlaw MC’s.
