Abnormal occlusal contacts, tipping the denture and breaking the peripheral seal
What is COMBINATION SYNDROME?
Associated with FLABBY RIDGE
Generally when there is an edentulous maxilla and they only have lower 3-3 (anterior) teeth.
All the biting force is on the upper 3-3 ridge, so the bone resorbs and mucosa thickens, resulting in a flabby ridge.
Where do lower teeth sit 90% of the time in dentures and why do they sit here?
ON THE RIDGE
Because that is where the teeth were before - mandible resorbs DOWNWARDS.
Where do teeth sit in relation to alveolar ridge in maxillary dentures?
BUCCAL to alveolar ridge in order to keep in contact with mandibular teeth
*NOTE - maxilla resorbs upwards and inwards
When do you use ICP?
When there is enough index teeth for inter-digitation

1-2mm
