Propiedades de durabilidad Flashcards
Abrasion resistance
The ability of a fabric to whitstand rubbing without wearing a hole in the surface
Cohesiveness
The ability of fibers to cling together.
Pilling
The formation of tangled fibers on the surface of the fabric. Pilling is also caused by rubbing.
Dimensional stability
The ability of a fiber to retain its size and shape. (relates to shrinkage)
Elasticity
The ability of a fiber to stretch and recover to its original size and shape after stretching.
Elongation
The degree to which a fiber may be stretched without breaking.
Elastomericity
The ability of a fiber to stretch 100 percent and recover to its original size and shape
Feltability
The ability of fibers to matte together to form a fabric.
Tenacity
The ability of a fiber, yarn, or fabric to resist stress.
Tensile strength
The ability of a fiber to withstand a pulling force.
Tearing strength
The ability of a fabric to resist tearing or ripping.
Snag resistance
The ability of a fabric to resist yarns being pulled out.
Yarn distortion
The ability of a fabric to resist yarn or seam slippage.
Flexibility
The ability of a fabric to bend repeatedly without breaking. The more flexible, the more drapable.
