Propiedades de Cuidado Flashcards
Resiliency
The ability of a fiber/fabric to return to its original shape after bending. Relates to wrinkle recovery.
Oleophilic
“oil loving” holds oily stains.
Chemical reactivity
The ability to interact on a molecular level with acids, or other cleaning agents.
Oleophobic
“oil hating” resists oily stains
Chemical benefits
The inclusion of trace minerals in some new fibers, such as vitamin. These chemicals can be absorbed transdermally.
Biological resistance (Environmental effects)
The ability to resist moths, mildews, silverfish, and so on.
Sunlight resistance (Environmental effects)
The ability to withstand degradation from direct sunlight.
Aging resistance (Environmental effects)
The ability to mantain original qualities over time.
Biodegradability (Enviromental effects)
The ability to decompose naturally.
Fume fading (Environmental effects)
Color loss due to environmental gasses or pollutants.
Thermoplasticity
The ability to soften, melt, or shrink when exposed to heat.
Heat tolerance
The ability to withstand heat when subjected to cleaning, drying, and ironing.
Heat sensitivity
The temperature at which a fiber will melt, soften, or shrink when subjected to heat.
