Propeller Flashcards
The maximum propeller rpm when at MAX setting is:
- 1,300
- 1,200
- 750
- 400
-1,200
When initiating auto feather action, the SCU of the failed engine:
- Subsequently disarms the auto-feather, preventing inadvertent feathering of the live engine.
- Subsequently disarms the auto-feather, preventing inadvertent feathering of the live engine and also signals the live engine ECU to up-trim.
- Signals the live engine ECU to up-trim.
- Signals the live enqine ECU to cancel Np under-speed protection.
- Subsequently disarms the auto-feather, preventing inadvertent feathering of the live engine and also signals the live engine ECU to up-trim.
Following an engine failure, uptrim causes the live engine to automatically uptrim:
- 15% of set power, provided the Auto Feather is Off.
- 10% of set power, provided the Auto Feather is armed.
- 10% of engine-rated power, provided the Auto Feather is armed.
- 5% of set power; auto-feather may be either armed or off.
- 10% of set power, provided the Auto Feather is armed.
Propeller Over-speed governing first occurs at:
- 1,250 rpm, by pneumatic control of the MFC.
- 1,250 rpm, by the over-speed governor driving the blades toward coarse.
- 1,308 rpm, by the NH over-speed governor.
- 1,308 rpm, by the over-speed governor driving the blades toward coarse.
- 1,250 rpm, by the over-speed governor driving the blades toward coarse.
The propeller pitch-lock mechanism:
-Assists engine start by locking the prop blades at fine pitch.
-Locks the prop in Feather after an engine failure.
-Controls prop RPM in the event of the pilot mishandling the aircraft.
- Prevents blade angle change greater than 1° or prop RPM increasing more
than 2% following total loss of propeller control oil pressure.
- Prevents blade angle change greater than 1° or prop RPM increasing more
than 2% following total loss of propeller control oil pressure.
Selection of an alternate feather switch to the alternate feather position:
- Simulates 60% torque, results in a 3% NH drop and, arms the auto-feather.
- Caused the ‘Up Trim’ annunciator to illuminate.
- Will not cause the propeller to feather unless the appropriate condition
lever is at ‘start/feather’ or ‘fuel off’
- Should be made when the pilot wishes to shut the engine down.
- Will not cause the propeller to feather unless the appropriate condition
lever is at ‘start/feather’ or ‘fuel off’
