Proofs Summary Sheet Flashcards
Vertical
If 2 angles are vertical then they are congruent.
Adjacent Straight
If 2 adjacent angles form a straight line, then they are supplementary.
Complementary
If two angles are complementary, then they form a right angle.
Perpendicular
If two lines are perpendicular, then they form a right angle.
Bisect
If an angle/line is bisected by a line, then it is split into 2 congruent parts.
Trisect
If an angle/line is trisected by a line, then it is split into 3 congruent parts.
Midpoint
If a point is a midpoint, then the segment is split into 2 congruent parts.
Parallel Lines
2 answers
1) If lines are parallel and cut but a transversal, then the alternate interior, alternate exterior, and corresponding angles and congruent.
or
2) If lines are parallel and cut but a transversal, then same side interior and same side exterior are supplementary.
Complements or supplements of the same angle
If angles are supplementary (or complementary) to the same angle then they are congruent.
Complements or supplements of the congruent angles
If angles are supplementary (or complementary) to congruent angles then they are congruent.
Reflexive Property
An angle/segment is congruent to itself.
